Yappy Hour at Mann's Best Friend was a HIT! Lots and lots of people showed up, with and without their greys, just to meet Sweetheart and to celebrate her recovery. I am still overwhelmed (in a good way) by the response. To stand there and see the store full of fur and human friends because of one greyhound, wow! It doesn't get much better than that. I am also amazed at how many of you follow the blog and how you have faithfully followed each step of her progress.
Sweetheart was a little overwhelmed at first, this being her first time at a meet and greet style of event. She growled and fussed a bit at some of the dogs but as time went on and everything calmed down, she showed her true Sweetheart self. She enjoyed meeting all of her fans, fur and human alike, and gave many of them tail wags and leans on their (human) legs (she is a leaner when she gets in the love zone).
OK everyone, I want a little blog participation. Each picture has a number below it. If your dog is in a picture, post a comment and tell me the name of your dog, his/her age, how long you have had him/her and what you love most about him/her. I would love to have a comment for every picture below.

Thank you to everyone who attended Yappy Hour! I hope everyone likes the pictures. Thank you to Les for taking the time to take the pictures and to post them to the blog for me tonight. Thank you to the person who raised $100 through their change bucket, what a fabulous person you are to do that for Sweetheart and thank you to the person who gave me a donation directly, very sweet. Sweetheart also got a gift of six beautiful, handmade martingale collars. They are so cute and girlie for my little girl. She will be wearing them to each event she attends.
Last but not least, thank you to everyone who have stuck with us these last two and a half months. Les and I appreciate all of your kind words and thoughts. Keep them coming, we love it!
Jess
What wonderful pictures! It looks like a good time was had by all!
ReplyDeleteLooks like some fun to me! Wish I could have been there too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know anybody there besides Sweetheart, but the pictures are adorable!
ReplyDeleteWish Song and I could have been there. So glad everyone had a fab time.
ReplyDeleteWe're so far away but thanks to your updates feel as close as we could. Sweethearts story continues to be an inspiration as does yours & Les's devotion to her & greyhounds in general. It looks like a great night was had by all. Thanks for keeping us posted.
ReplyDeleteWhat a party:-) And so many well dressed, gorgeous hounds. No wonder Sweetheart was a bit overwhelmed to begin with. You're doing a great job making us feel a part of everything that's happening in your lives. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFoxy is in the first picture with Sweetheart, she is the little reddish dog. She is 11 yrs old. Rescued from the pound by my now deceased parents 11 yrs ago, pomerian & something mix. # 6 is Ellie with Wheat. #7 Lacie- 6yrs old, very sweet with a devilish side. Favorite position roached on the couch. #8 is Foxy-small dog, & Lacie lying down with the pumpkin scarf. Ellie is the other gorgeous grey. Toni & Bob Carter's dogs
ReplyDelete#9 is AddyBea, Shelly's dog, she is 3. #10 Is Molly, age 5, she is a talker, Cindy's dog. #11 Molly with Peg. Final pic of Sweetheart is Lacie's head with the pumpkin scarf. The Coming Out Party was alot of fun!!! Enjoyed all the 2 & 4 legged friends. Thank You Mann's Best Friend for hosting this event!!!
ReplyDeletePic #5 is Olive! aka...Olive Gaga for the event. We were blessed with her August 2007. She is 6 years old and is full of spirit. She has truly enriched our lives in so many ways. We couldn't ask for a better Greyhound. She still loves to play and loves loves loves attention. Olive has Jim and I trained so well. She loves her lil kitty sister Kiwi. It's so fun to watch Olive want to play with her. We have met some super people through the group along with all their 4 legged companions. It's been a joy following Sweetheart's Success Story. Thanks for sharing Olive's picture and allowing me to share about Olive. ~Angela~
ReplyDeleteI claim #3, half of #4 and #11! :) Our doll Cami is the tiny brindle in #4 and #11. She was our first greyhound. She is 3 1/2 years old and we've had her a little over a year and a half. She is very shy but is so devoted to Tristan and I. We didn't meet her until the day she came to live with us and there couldn't have been a better match. She had been adopted and returned before and that was the best thing that could have happened to her. She now sleeps in bed with us and is spoiled as ever!
ReplyDeleteThe handsome boy in the bunny ears is our baby boy Calvin. He'll be 3 years old in December and is also a bit shy but so ornery and playful. We've had him just over a year now. He has made me fall totally head over heels for the Red males.
We had a blast at the Yappy Hour and hope to see all of you soon! It's fun to get everyone together with the greyhounds for a good cause!
Hi! I'm Greta. I'll be happy to claim the other 1/2 of #4, #12, and #13! My beautiful red fawns are Daisy, age 3 and Rose, age 3 1/2. We call them the "flower twins"!
ReplyDeleteWe got Daisy at age 20 months as "empty nesters". She came to us after she had lived outside in the cold in a pen 24/7 for 3 months, had survived being dumped at the pound twice, and failed one weekend trial adoption. She was depressed and afraid to let us get too close to her. She has had a complete transformation in temperment as she learned to trust us. Now, she is a certified companion dog and therapy dog and we couldn't love her more!!
Although we were not planning to adopt another, we accidentally saw Rose on the list of adoptables and felt she was the perfect grey sibling for Daisy. Rose lived at Ebro Racetrack in Florida for 9 months and ran 39 races. She is shy but so, so sweet! We have had her for a year now and she has come a looong way in learning to trust people and to feel confident in new environments (like Sweetheart's party!). she is a snuggler and, although she is afraid of other men, loves my husband with all of her doggie heart!!
i claim none, but it was fun! it was amazing to meet sweetheart in life. what a zest for life (and an attitude!) she has! i feel so blessed to partake of her spirit!
ReplyDeleteI thought I recognized Molly, another favorite foster of mine :) Looks like a greyt time was had by all, what a fantastic looking bunch and of course the girl of the hour Miss Sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I'm so sorry I couldn't have dressed up my two greys and been there. Everyone looks so cute!
ReplyDeleteI claim the bulldog...Porky. He has heard all about greys and wanted to get a first hand look at what he has been missing. He had a greyt time, thanks for letting him play with the big dogs!

I am in love with Wheat. I wish my DH would let us get another hound. I cannot stop looking at that boy. He is just so big and handsome. Thanks for sharing the party pics. Sweetheart really is a doll.
