Sunday Evening

Good day today.  Lots of napping and going in and out.  She started eating her dry food quite well in the afternoon.

Just gave her a can of puppy food and her antibiotic pill.  Greenie Pill Pockets are wonderful things.  I highly recommend them.  I give her pill in those when she is eating and she gobbles it right down.

She also had quite a few treats today too.  Greedy for treats she is!

Her bandage is starting to reek.  DocKendi told me it would and she wasn't lying.  Her leg is healing well which means good circulation, which in turn means blood is soaking her bandage.  Just imagine a tackle box with dried blood bait, that is what our living room is starting to resemble in smell.  Soo, blankets and crate pads will get washed every few days at least.  Poor Les has been hiding out in the bedroom all day to get away from Ms. Smelly.  Gain a Sweetheart, lose a husband.  :)   He will probably be taking her into the vet's to beg for a new bandage Tuesday.  We shall see if Dr. Kolar will allow it.  :)

  1. Lol, the things we put up with for the sake of our kids, and can smile about:-) Hope you get the new bandage on Tuesday. I don't suppose there is any way you can disguise or 'dilute' the smell?

  2. Sacrifices, but well worth it! I know when my Sadie had a problem with her toe, the smell was what I noticed! Not enough time for that story. Let's just say, I lovingly call her "My million dollar baby"!!!

  3. No, I can't really disguise it. I thought about baby powder but she will just lick it off. I thought about a ziplock bag but I want air to get through it and I don't want her slipping and sliding. Alas, a tackle box my house will be for a while. Oh well.

  4. She sounds like she's quite the little diva! I love those spunky little girls!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it cools off soon and you can have the windows open!

  5. Doesn't sound like Sweetheart minds! You are very special indeed! The size of your heart is equal in size to Sweetheart's spirit! Knowing she wakes up surrounded in love and comfort fills my heart with joy and removes any day to day complaint from my mind and lips.

  7. Jessica, try putting a little Mentholatum under your nose ... and Lester's. This is an old surgery trick. ; ) You can also try to find some wintergreen oil to mist around the house.

  8. I don't want to mess with the bandage. I don't want to do anything to screw the healing up. Please, she licks it all the time so it wouldn't help to put something on it. ;) I have seen shows (crime shows because I am a ghoul hehe) that show Mentholatum used during autoposies or crime scenes. I think Les will just lock himself in his room when it gets too intense.
