Evening - 09/08

No real news tonight or pictures.  Sweetheart is doing well as always (I kind of feel like a broken record) eating good, trying desperately to raid the trash and worming her way onto a bigger and bigger space of the air bed when I am laying with her.  Who knew a skinny little dog could take up so much room?

I will most likely take her for a bandage change when I am off work Friday.  My birthday is tomorrow but I will spend it at work and take off Friday to celebrate it!  Nice birthday present to myself, a stinky bandage change.  :)  However, I am excited to see how her leg is progressing and to get her weighed.  She is really filling in quite nicely and seems to have gained a few pounds this week.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about her or greyhounds in general.  If you ask them in older posts and I don't answer it is because I probably didn't read them.  I usually only check the last couple of days comments to see if there is anything new.  Please don't think I am ignoring your questions if you have asked them of me and I have not answered!

Hope everyone has a good evening (or morning/afternoon depending on the part of the world you are in when you read this).  :)

  1. She sounds like she is doing great! Are you going to booby trap the trash and counters for her so that she learns not to steal? I had a blue heeler x border collie pup who had been starved and i had to do that to stop her from stealing things, she never did get over being starved. Once she ate a whole, wrapped chocolate she found on the sidewalk while we were out before I got a chance to realise what was happening! Didn't cause her any problems though.

  2. My grey Bavarian is a trash digger and counter surfer deluxe. And he was never a starving dog just GREEDY. When we forget to put the trash up he has a field day when we leave to go eat, etc. Bavarian's thing is bread. He has eaten several whole loaves (at different times) of it off the counter before and was no worse for wear. Ahh, greyhounds, fun fun.

  3. I'm glad to hear that she's doing well! I think the smaller the Greyhound princess, the more room they require on the bed. It's some rule of physics somewhere, I think...

  8. Happy Birthday, Jessica. I think Sweetheart's constant improvements are the best present you could have and hopefully more will be revealed when the bandage gets changed. Princesses have to sleep right in the middle of something big, Beryl is like that too:-)

  9. I kinda understand her stealing - starve long enough and suddenly smells and food are everywhere - what a temptation!

I found a puppy a couple of months ago in the street - full of worms and very hungry. Today she is healthy and will eat anything, anywhere, anytime. She never seems satisfied, yet will leave some food in her dish now. I think that's in case she gets hungry while I'm at work!!

Thank you for what you do for Sweetheart. I really, really wish I could adopt her, but my oldest dog is already mad that I took in this puppy!! I'm afraid she'd never forgive me if I brought home another!
