I talked to Lynn at Dr. Kolar's to confirm that the vet bill was the amount I was thinking it was. We had several folks who gave donations directly to Dr. Kolar's and I thought the total that Les got yesterday was AFTER the donations had been credited. It was not. The total for her vet care for 15 days was $574! With the direct donations to Kolar, the bill will be about $299.00 and we have received more than enough donations via the mail and paypal to cover this amount. The money we have left after paying Dr. Kolar for her initial vetting will be used for her continued home care, which includes food, medication, crate pads (she digs at her bedding and is tearing it up slowly) and bandage changes (done by Dr. Kolar) . She will also have to be spayed and treated for hookworms in the future. Right now she is not strong enough have either of these things done. All of these things will add up so any donations received now and in the future will be greatly appreciated.
I was and am still stunned by this amount. They put all that work into her and just charged a pittance for it. I am so incredibly grateful to them for helping her and, in turn, helping us. What wonderful people they are and what wonderful people you all are for donating to Sweetheart and for following her blog and giving us your well wishes. Thank you so very very much to everyone and to Dr. Kolar and everyone at the Prague Veterinary Clinic.
Channel Four contacted me as I was writing this update. They are going to do an article about the cruelty case that Sweetheart is involved in. They will try to put it on their 6:00 TV newscast. Their website is: http://www.kfor.com/ I would imagine the story would be on the website sometime today or tomorrow.
We are constantly amazed at the generosity of Greyhound People. Keep up the good work everyone and you are lookin' GOOD Sweetheart!!! <3

ReplyDeleteI agree with Ruby - God bless Dr. Kolar and his clinic. What wonderful news!!
ReplyDeleteJust saw the news and that's what brought me here! I'd love to help however I can. Sweetheart looks a bit like my own dog and I can't imagine seeing her in that state but God bless you for the work you do! Where can donations be sent and who is handling her future adoption?
ReplyDeleteDonations can be sent via mail at the address on www.fasthound.org or you can send them via pay pal. We have a pay pal link on this blog on the upper right hand side of the opening page and we also have a pay pal link on www.fasthound.org
ReplyDeleteAny donation you send will be appreciated.
Paul and I handle all of our adoptions. We are a small group and Paul and I do everything as a team. We are not going to think of adoption until she is a 100% healthy and then the home will have to be a really special one because she deserves only the best, as they all do!
