Evening update - 09/02/2010

As I write this, a clap of thunder and a bolt of lightening have let me know that the thunderstorm is finally here.  Journey, our 12 year old foster is scared of storms.  I feel for her.  I may give her a benadryl to see if that helps calm her down.  Sweetheart seems pretty un-phased by the commotion.  She is lying on the queen size air bed and opened her eyes a little when the thunder hit and then she went back to sleep.

She did something new this evening.  She actually played with a couple of toys.  She pounced them and tossed them a bit.  She did the cute greyhound bow to them as well.  This was the first time she actually played with the toys for any length of time.  In the middle of the night the other night, she found a toy and gave it a few squeaks but did not show the enthusiasm like she did today.  I feel this is another great sign of her healing.

She ate well tonight and gobbled her can of puppy food and an assortment of treats.  I fed her a few more treats than usual and she seemed to do fine.  Her tummy was talking a little bit to me when she came to see me folding laundry but she had just inhaled her can of puppy food.  I don't hear any talking now so I am confident her food is settling just fine.

I hope everyone had a good day.  Things are progressing here as they should be.  Tomorrow is Friday and for me it is a three day weekend!   Sweetheart gets a bandage change tomorrow and I will weigh her.  I also need to find out what date to give her the next heartworm pill.

  5. Just wonderful - clearly Sweetheart knows she is with people who really care for her. To read that she is playing is so wonderful (I have a little tear, but don't tell anyone - Aussie blokes aren't meant to cry).

Please let us know if you need some help with the on going vet bills. Sent a thank you card to Dr Kolar et al today.

    Cheers Spiffo & Cami

  14. Sweetheart is such a gift - her spirit is absolutely enchanting. I only read her story today, and while disgusted by her past, I am thrilled for her future. Thank you so much for giving her a wonderful new life - many of us are greatly appreciative of what you're doing.
