Sweetie Can Run!

Sweetie is doing great! She is eating well, sleeping well and playing like crazy. She lives up to her name ... she's a total Sweetheart. We're hoping we're feeding her enough to keep her weight gain going because she is really loving to run at almost every turnout time.

We'll be scheduling a bandage change for Friday morning and I'll be sure to take the camera. Yes, Jessica, this pretty little girl's bandage is getting REALLY whiffy! (You weren't kidding!) I think her leg must be continuing to make incredible progress with healing as you will see in the videos below. Enjoy!

Videos taken about 3 PM 9-22-10 (please excuse our dirt work done this week in the turnout)

Sweetie has opinions ...

A shameless plug for our foster, Wheat ...

Sweetie running and a message from Bavarian for Jessica & Les ...

I hope you've enjoyed the videos of Sweetheart today. I know you're just as amazed and happy as we are with her improved movement on her injured leg and her overall health recovery. This little girl is awesome!

I'll be back soon with more pictures, updates and videos for you from our little Sweetie.

Be sure to hug your pups,

Shelly

  1. I notice that some of the dogs wear muzzles. Why?

  2. It is common practice for greyhounds to be muzzled when in a turnout together. They run with their mouths open most of the time and they have really thin skin, so if one was to run by another and accidentally snag another dog with their open mouth, the would could be horrible. It is purely a safety measure. None of these dogs are aggressive in any way. But, thanks for asking and letting me explain.

  3. I meant to say the *wound* could be horrible.

  4. Heh 'run with their mouths open'... not to mention that at top speed their lips peel back and all you can see is shiny white teeth! Very noticable with a black dog like my girl! hahah

Sweetheart looks like a cuddler :) very cute. Wheat looks like good fun too!

  5. Yes, definitely, Jet! When they are in a space big enough to run at top speed (approx. 45 mph)everyone tries to protect them from injury from anything sharp or hard that may be in their way ... no matter how small.

Sweetheart is definitely a cuddler. Wheat has personality plus, too. He loves toys and food!

  6. Sweetheart, I hope wherever you go, you keep starring in your own blog! I think she needs on of those special diva muzzles with the bling on it, though! ;)

  12. I'll sure try to get more video footage today, but we're supposed to have rain before too long. If I can, I'll get video footage to post ... and hopefully not when they're wet. : )
